BRIAN JOEL DAMON
After a 40-year career as a psychotherapist and psychiatric social worker, regional artist Brian Joel Damon, Wartburg College, BA, ’73, University of South Dakota, MA, ‘80, returned to college in 2012 to study art at Briar Cliff University (BCU), BA, 2015. While endeavoring on this art journey, his artistic drive and passion has flourished.
More than 50 exhibits in Upper Midwest galleries, many juried, have displayed Damon’s paintings. Selections from his body of work are published in “Intrepid Coalescing,” a poetry arts chapbook by Paula Bosco Damon. Damon’s artwork has been featured in five editions of The Briar Cliff Review, an award-winning literary arts journal in circulation worldwide and has received multiple awards.
In recent years, Damon’s paintings have been accepted for exhibitions at the Sioux City Art Center; Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center, both in Sioux City, Iowa; Blue Cat Gallery, Wayne, NE; the Sears Center in Decatur, NE., galleries in Norfolk, NE., Sioux Falls, S.D., Beresford, S.D., and in the Siouxland Artists, Inc. Traveling Exhibits in Upper Midwest Galleries.
