Chaeli Kohn

Shady Grove Pottery by Chaeli Hanna-Kohn

Chaeli Hanna-Kohn, a lifelong resident of Sioux City, Iowa, has been working with Stoneware and Raku pottery for over 20 years. She started as an apprentice to a local potter and is self taught. In addition, she continues to participate in classes and workshops. She has taught ceramic classes in the past at the Sioux City Art Center.

Chaeli specializes in functional stoneware pottery as well as decorative wall hangings and Raku pottery. She uses the potters wheel, extruder and slabs of clay with hand building techniques. The elements of nature, such as leaves and bark are incorporated into the textures of designing the clay pieces. Including the colors of the glazes, throughout the end result of the firing process.

Chaeli sells and displays her work at Gallery 103, Art SUX Gallery and Sioux City Gifts. Shady Grove Pottery is open for business by appointment. Chaeli holds special events and sales, during the year at her in home studio.
